flying tea bag magic or science

In school are teacher( Mr g) showed us a cool thing were if you light a tea bag on fire then eventually it will lift off.

How a tea bag flies.

If you cut a tea bag then make it a cylinder and light both sides it will fly but how and why?

Well when you light the bag, it sets fire and starts to burn. Hot air fills the tube. Then when the cold air rushes in from the bottom, it will lift off.   

When the air inside the tube gets hotter it also gets less dense which means it wants to float. But as the cold air rushes through the bag gives it a little extra lift which allows it to fly.

This only happens at a certain point where there is enough lift to make the reduced weight of the tea bag float up into the air.

When the bag flies it isn't magic but a really cool example of science.

I think this was a really cool thing to explain and be able to learn about even cooler was the fact we could do the experiment are selves. have you ever done anything like this if so comment what it was?
